FRESH BLOOD PROJECT 5 IS COMING
**At 12pm on November 17, tickets will not be available online! Admission will be at the door.**
Join us on November 17 for an incredible evening of new music! The Overtonic Trio is reuniting to present 4 new works for percussion ensemble, featuring their unique and exciting lineup of piano, vibraphone, and drumset. This year, the project is all about SPACE. Local composers Laura Gow, Alison Hain, Kiara Nathaniel, and Rebeka Schroeder Lecias have each written a piece inspired by two of our beloved celestial neighbours. The planets in our solar system have always had a special place in our hearts, dreams, imaginations, mythology, and our future, and these new compositions will help you experience the wonder in a new way.
The concert will also feature Kerrigan Salnikowski who will be presenting a new semi-improvisational composition with Gage Salnikowski and Nathan Krahn. To complement our percussion instruments, Kerrigan will be using cello, modular synthesizers, modified cymbals, and homemade instruments to represent the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
This concert is generously supported by the incredible philanthropist Michael Nesbitt, who is a long-time friend of the project. The 4 works for percussion trio were commissioned with support from the Manitoba Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. Please note that this concert is entirely separate from the commissions, with entirely unconnected development and funding.

OVERTONIC TRIO
The Overtonic Trio explores the world of popular music over the centuries. The ensemble’s ability to move seamlessly through styles and eras takes you on a journey from jazz and folk favourites through their origins in classical and traditional music. The unique combination of instruments creates a special sonic world where you can experience essential music in a new way. The Overtonic Trio was created by Cameron Denby with long-time collaborators Caroline Bucher (percussion) and Kiara Nathaniel (piano).
In October 2023, the Overtonic Trio completed their inaugural tour, which took them from Winnipeg to the Yukon. The tour took them through Regina, Dawson City, Whitehorse, Marsh Lake, Fort Nelson, Dawson Creek, and Edmonton. Each of the performers have made their mark locally and across the country. Members can be seen regularly with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, Little Opera Company, Chai Folk Ensemble, and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. They are also all passionate music educators, teaching clinics, masterclasses, and private lessons.
The trio performs music by Scott Joplin, György Ligeti, Maurice Ravel, Zez Confrey, Artie Matthews, Duke Ellington, as well as contemporary music by pianist/resident composer Kiara Nathaniel. Her genre-blending compositional style mixed with the spectacular sounds of the instruments creates a musical experience that can only come from the Overtonic Trio.
